Healthy Choices with ¡Por Vida!
San Antonio can get the full flavor and convenience of dining without sacrificing good nutrition with the ¡Por Vida! Program. Working with registered dietitians, many San Antonio restaurants have identified menu items that meet specific standards for good nutrition. From drive-thru’s to sit-downs, from the adult entrées to kid's meals, you and your family now have a variety of delicious choices thanks to ¡Por Vida! Already, the ¡Por Vida! logo is identifying new and improved low sodium, low-cal meals at over 120 restaurant locations’ across the city.

Participating San Antonio restaurants are designating some of their best dishes for a balanced diet just for you.

Since its launch in October with a base of seven restaurants, 20 other establishments are taking steps to join the program. The ¡Por Vida! meal standards for adult meals limit the total calories to 700, with less than 300 calories from the entrée and less than 200 calories from each of two side orders. Additional ¡Por Vida! guidelines are as follows:

  • Total Fat less than 23g
  • Saturated Fat less than 8g
  • Trans Fat less than 0.5g
  • Sodium less than 750mg
  • No fried foods
As a part of the Find your Balance campaign, ¡Por Vida! is just one more example of how San Antonio is making healthy eating easier for you to accomplish. For more information on the ¡Por Vida! program, please contact Kathy Shields at 210-207-6030 or at kathleen.shields@sanantonio.gov
